The Bees entered the game with a perfect 12-0 record and once again showed why they have been one of the top teams in the state this season.
Before Monday's win, East Fairmont had already outscored its opponents 70-2 through 12 games. The Bees were also 8-0 in Big Ten Conference play and ranked No. 3 in West Virginia by MaxPreps.
Monday marked another big offensive performance for East Fairmont. The Bees had already reached double-digit goals three times this season, beating Brooke, Preston and Robert C. Byrd 10-0. They also entered Monday coming off a 9-0 win over Buckhannon-Upshur.
Junior Carly Manchin has led the East Fairmont offense this season. She entered the John Marshall matchup with 30 goals and 11 assists, giving her 71 total points. Junior Lily Larnerd was right behind her with 21 goals and 50 points. Senior Sara Noechel has also recorded 11 assists, while junior Caroline Corwin had 10.
The Bees have been just as strong defensively. Junior goalkeeper Emily Laxton entered Monday with 10 shutouts and a 0.213 goals-against average. East Fairmont had posted shutouts in 10 of its first 12 games, with Herbert Hoover and Lincoln being the only teams to score against the Bees.
East Fairmont has also put together wins over several familiar opponents this season, including Fairmont Senior, North Marion, Grafton, Philip Barbour and Buckhannon-Upshur.
The Bees' success has gained attention outside of the state as well. East Fairmont was ranked No. 8 in the United Soccer Coaches Region IV poll released Sept. 22, joining George Washington as one of two West Virginia teams in the Top 10.
With another shutout and another double-digit scoring performance Monday, East Fairmont continues to build momentum as the regular season moves into its final stretch.
