Despite doing enough to stretch the series to three games, the Indiana Fever were eventually knocked out of the 2026 WNBA playoffs by the Las Vegas Aces.

The Fever lost the opening game 102-85 before picking up a big 99-89 win in the reverse fixture at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

However, they could not repeat that feat on Thursday, and were beaten 94-83, losing the series 1-2.

Amid a disappointing end to their first-round playoff clash, WNBA analyst Robin Lundberg has spoken about Kelsey Mitchell’s struggles against the Aces, saying she had a ‘pretty brutal series’.

Taking to X/Twitter, Lundberg suggested that while Mitchell did have a great season overall, she was poor in the playoffs:

He wrote: “Hate to say it after the season she had, but pretty brutal series from Kelsey Mitchell overall.”

Mitchell finished the regular season with 1,086 points, which was a league high.

She also had the second-best average in the WNBA (24.7) behind A’ja Wilson (26.2).

But those numbers dipped during the three-game series against the Las Vegas Aces.

Mitchell’s points average was 20.3 across the ties, managing 23 points in the final game on Thursday.

Still, Kelsey is an MVP candidate this year, and it remains to be seen if she has done enough to beat the likes of Wilson and Caitlin Clark to the award.
