Golden State Warriors forward Yaxel Lendeborg has continued to impress heading into his rookie season.

Lendeborg led the Warriors to the title in the Summer League in Las Vegas, winning the MVP trophy in the process. While they lost to the Los Angeles Clippers, 104-101, in the preseason on Sunday, coach Steve Kerr gave a glowing assessment of the 24-year-old Lendeborg.

In a video posted by Mercury News’ Joseph Dycus, Kerr highlighted the energetic forward’s offensive acumen.

“He’s very capable of being our lead offensive threat when Steph (Curry) is off the floor. He connects the game beautifully. He makes it easy playing over and over again and looks good shooting the ball. He’s a really good player,” said the four-time champion coach.

Lendeborg tallied four points, nine rebounds, three assists, and one block in 19 minutes against the Clippers.

Kerr also noted a room for improvement for Lendeborg.

“He’s gotta get comfortable with the NBA game and with his opponent’s personnel. Rui (Hachimura) rose up and made a jump on him in the first quarter. That’s just knowing personnel. We have to make him put the ball on the floor, but Yaxel is five games into his NBA career, so it will take some time,” added Kerr.

Lendeborg, who carried Michigan to the national title in his lone stint in Ann Arbor, is expected to start alongside Curry, Brandin Podziemski, Draymond Green, and Kristaps Porzingis, with Jimmy Butler still out due to an ACL injury.

The Warriors drafted Lendeborg with the No. 11 pick.

Golden State will face the Los Angeles Lakers in the preseason on Tuesday.
