Brunson has been a revelation since joining the Knicks in 2022, averaging around 25 points per game. However, the 30-year-old’s crowning moment came when he led the Knicks to their first NBA championship in 53 years.
Iverson was an incredible scorer during his NBA career, starring for both the Philadelphia 76ers and Denver Nuggets. Although he never won a championship, he remains a legendary figure who many current players grew up idolising.
Skip Bayless compares Jalen Brunson to Allen Iverson
Skip Bayless admitted to recency bias when saying he would take Jalen Brunson over Allen Iverson. Brunson is arguably the most clutch player in the league and provided New York sports fans with one of the greatest moments in their history by leading the Knicks to the 2026 NBA title.
“That is a great question that I’m struggling with because I was a big A.I. fan,” Bayless explained. “Jalen Brunson against the odds… my eyes were ready to not embrace him throughout the playoff run, but he just kept saying, ‘Watch this; watch this.’
“I might be being a prisoner of this moment because A.I. is Godly to me, God-like, but what Jalen Brunson did to the favoured Spurs… I can’t argue with it.”
Shannon Sharpe then compared Brunson to six-time NBA champion Michael Jordan for his shot-making ability in clutch situations. His game-winner against the Detroit Pistons in the Eastern Conference Finals earlier this year will be remembered for a very long time.
“He’s Jordan-esque when it comes to clutchness in the fourth quarter, every game,” Sharpe said.
