At WWE Money in the Bank, LA Knight had the biggest opportunity of his career: a World Heavyweight Championship match against Roman Reigns on a major PLE.

This, of course, isn’t the first time that Knight has attempted to take a world title away from “The OTC.” Their on-and-off rivalry extends back to November 2023, when Knight unsuccessfully challenged Reigns for the WWE Championship at Crown Jewel. Just a couple of months later at the 2024 Royal Rumble, Knight once again fell short against Reigns in a Fatal 4-Way match for the WWE title.

Knight has, on numerous occasions, been inches away from winning a world title, and at WWE Money in the Bank, he got one more crack at Reigns and another shot at winning his first world championship.

WWE Money In The Bank 2026 Results For Roman Reigns Vs. LA Knight

The biggest question heading into WWE Money in the Bank was this: could Knight actually do the unthinkable and dethrone Reigns?

With all of the drama surrounding 946, Solo Sikoa and The Bloodline, Money in the Bank seemed like it was the most opportune time for Knight to shock the world and beat Reigns. As it turns out, however, the answer to that previous question was still a resounding no.

Although it looked like Knight had Reigns beat more than once, Reigns was able to finish off Knight with pair of Superman punches followed by a spear to retain his World Heavyweight Championship.

Here are the key highlights and moments from Reigns vs. Knight at Money in the Bank:

  • Early on, Knight mocked Reigns’ “We the ones” pose and then gave him a middle finger as the pro-Knight crowd exploded. There were more very loud “LA Knight!” chants from the fans in New Orleans followed by dueling chants for both stars.
  • After a slow start, the match eventually spilled to the outside. Knight cleared off the announce table, but Reigns brought the match back inside. Knight was able to rally with a clothesline andside Russian leg sweep followed by a power slam. He hit a big elbow drop and went for the first pinfall attempt of the match at about 12 minutes into the bout.
  • Reigns suddenly hit a Superman punch out of nowhere for a close nearfall. Reigns lined up for the spear, but Knight leapfrogged him, causing him to go shoulder first into the turnbuckle. Knight got knocked off the top rope and then leaped to the top rope with one giant leap, then hit Reigns with a massive superplex. He followed that up with a huge Burning Hammer that nearly got him the 1-2-3 as the crowd exploded.
  • Knight went for the BFT, but Reigns countered. Knight then responded with an inverted DDT and a kip-up. Knight missed his top rope elbow drop, then Reigns hit him with a uranage slam for two as the crowd chanted “This is awesome.”
  • Back outside, Reigns attempted to powerbomb Knight onto the announce table, but Knight countered by sending him face-first into the steel ring steps. As they exchanged blows, the crowd loudly chanted “Yeah!” for Knight and booed Reigns.
  • In the ring, Reigns hit a Superman punch out of nowhere and lined up for the spear. Knight countered and caught him with a massive BFT. Reigns shockingly kicked out at two as the fans went berserk. Knight lined up for a spear himself, but Reigns responded with a spear of his own. Knight kicked out in the nick of time.
  • Reigns went for a spear again, but Knight was able to hit a spear instead and get a very close two-count. Back outside, Reigns hit a Superman punch and lined up for spear, but Knight side-stepped and Reigns went crashing through the barricade. Knight picked up Reigns after struggling at first, then powerbombed Reigns through the announce table as the fans went crazy again.
  • Back inside, Knight hit his patented elbow drop, but Reigns shockingly kicked out yet again. With the crowd firmly behind him, Knight went for BFT again, but Reigns countered and crotched Knight on the top rope, which somehow wasn’t a disqualification. Reigns then hit a Superman punch followed by yet another one. Finally, Reigns hit a spear and that was enough for the 1-2-3.

WWE Money In The Bank 2026 Results: What’s Next For Roman Reigns And LA Knight?

For the past several weeks, Reigns has largely tried to keep his hands clean of any involvement in the boiling rivalry between 946 and the rest of The Bloodline. Soon, however, he may have no choice but to get involved.

At WWE Money in the Bank, Reigns was able to barely retain his title against Knight, but following his match, 946 appeared in the crowd to stare down Reigns before being confronted by the uUsos and Solo Sikoa. Tomorrow night on Raw, the trio of the Usos and The Bloodline are going to battle 946 in what will be the first actual match of this feud. The two trios then brawled throughout the arena.

Of course, Reigns, as a part-timer, isn’t going to be around every week for that storyline, but he’s now been directly impacted by 946 just weeks away from Survivor Series: WarGames.

If you know the recent history of WarGames, The Bloodline has played a key role in that match virtually every year since 2022, and 2026 should follow suit. With all of the revolving parts in Raw’s main event picture involving 946, the obvious immediate direction is for Reigns to eventually decide that the entire Bloodline as a unit must unite to attempt to take down 946.

Exactly how that plays out isn’t as clear, but the general picture suggests Reigns will transition away from a rivalry with Knight and into the latest Bloodline drama. As for Knight, he himself admitted during a pre-Money in the Bank promo that his match with Reigns might be his last shot at winning a world title.

As we now know, Knight fell short again even though Reigns didn’t exactly beat him cleanly, and there remains a major cloud of uncertainty regarding his future world title prospects. Knight is in a spot similar to the one Sami Zayn was in recently, pursuing his first world title, and Zayn has since shockingly won the WWE title twice.

Will Knight have as much luck? Everything about his history says no, and after another key loss at Money in the Bank, there’s no clear path back for “The Megastar.”
