After all of that went down, both Trotter and Thomas were ejected for unsportsmanlike conduct.
According to the broadcast, it appeared that Trotter slammed Thomas to the ground, which is what led to the scrap.
We’re still waiting on some video, but we’ll add it here when available.

As NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo noted, Trotter, who is the son of former NFL linebacker Jeremiah Trotter, is almost following in the footsteps of his father.
“Jeremiah Trotter once got thrown out for fighting in pregame. Jeremiah Trotter Jr. just got tossed after the opening kickoff,” Garafolo said.
Like father, like son.
After all the dust settled, the Eagles had to kick the ball off again, but there were no fireworks the second time around.
Impact of Jags-Eagles ejections
Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end Bryan Thomas Jr. (57) comes around to pressure New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye (10) in the third quarter during an NFL football game at EverBank Stadium, Sunday, September 27, 2026, in Jacksonville, Fla. [Doug Engle/Florida Times-Union] via Reuters Connect (Reuters)This is a particularly tough blow for the Eagles, who are losing a starter in Trotter Jr. Just an inexcusable act by the linebacker, who hurt his team.
A fifth-round pick of the Eagles in 2024, Trotter had posted 19 tackles and one pass defensed going into Week 5.
As for Thomas, who is a rookie, he’s just a backup and a special teams contributor, so losing him won’t be as big a loss for Jacksonville.

That said, he has posted half of a sack this season in three games, so he has made an impact on the defensive side of the ball.
