Jake Bates’ Week 5 Fantasy Outlook at Arizona
Bates connected on all three of his field-goal attempts from at least 40 yards last week in Carolina and has yet to miss a kick this season.
Dan Campbell has shown a willingness to let Bates try from distance, but his reliability on more routine attempts is what creates the stronger fantasy floor. Bates is 49-of-52 on field goals from inside 50 yards for his career.
He has also converted 68 of 70 extra-point attempts since the start of last season. That matters in an offense capable of producing touchdowns in bunches, as PAT volume can provide a useful baseline even when field-goal opportunities fluctuate.
Bates checks in at K8 for Week 5. His combination of accuracy, range, and attachment to a high-scoring Detroit offense keeps him firmly inside the top 10.
Daniel Carlson’s Week 5 Fantasy Outlook vs. Minnesota
Indoor kickers always carry some appeal, and Carlson continues to get opportunities from a wide range of distances. He has attempted a field goal from at least 50 yards in three of four games, a sign of the confidence his team has in his leg.
Carlson has also converted a field goal from inside 30 yards in three of four weeks. That short-range usage can be particularly valuable when an offense is capable of moving the ball but struggles to consistently finish drives inside the 10-yard line.
Against Minnesota, simply getting into scoring range could be enough to create opportunities. Taking the available points becomes more important in a difficult matchup, and Carlson has shown he can contribute from both short range and distance.
Carlson sits at K25 for Week 5, so he isn’t a priority in standard formats. Still, his indoor environment and range make him a viable deeper-league option if the offense creates enough scoring chances.
