The Associated Press rankings will be released later in the day.
The Hawkeyes were previously 16th in the Coaches Poll and 17th in the AP Poll.
The Hawkeyes (5-1) are coming off a bye week. Their only loss of the season has come to national championship contender Ohio State. Iowa has power conference wins over Iowa State, Michigan and Washington, the latter two of which were on the road. With six games remaining in the regular season, Iowa has a realistic path to make the College Football Playoff.
Up next, Iowa goes on the road to play Minnesota. The Golden Gophers, who also just had a bye week, will enter the matchup 4-2 overall. In their last contest, Minnesota suffered a surprising 41-13 blowout loss to Purdue.
The Hawkeyes and Golden Gophers have faced two common opponents so far this season: Michigan and Washington. Iowa played at Michigan and won by one, while Minnesota hosted Michigan and won by six. Iowa and Minnesota both beat Washington on the road, although the Hawkeyes won by 17 and the Golden Gophers only won by three.
Iowa has won 12 of its last 14 games against Minnesota, which includes wins in the last two matchups. Two seasons ago, the Hawkeyes prevailed 31-14 on the road. Last season, Iowa thumped Minnesota 41-3.
