The interruption will affect customers in Old Dobsonville Extensions 2, 4 and 5.

Eskom will cut the power on Sunday, 25 October, from 9:00 to 18:00.

According to Eskom, the power outage is necessary to carry out essential maintenance on its distribution power lines.

The notice was issued by Eskom’s Gauteng Communication and Stakeholder Management team.

Safety warning for residents

Eskom is urging affected customers to treat all electrical appliances as live at all times during the power outage.

This means residents should not assume appliances are safe to handle simply because the power is off, as electricity could be restored at any time.

The power utility thanked customers for their cooperation and apologised for any inconvenience the maintenance may cause.

Eskom also cautioned that the planned maintenance may not go ahead as communicated if circumstances beyond its control arise.
