Texas Longhorns senior running back Hollywood Smothers will not be available for Saturday’s game against the Ole Miss Rebels in Austin after he was ruled out on Friday’s SEC-mandated injury report.

The 5’11, 196-pounder was downgraded from doubtful on Thursday after missing practice earlier in the week with a shoulder injury. Smothers also sat out against Tennessee in the SEC opener with a lower-leg injury.

Already ruled out were junior edge Colin Simmons, and freshman edge Richard Wesley as sophomore wide receiver Kaliq Lockett and senior offensive lineman Jaydon Chatman were also downgraded from doubtful to out on Friday.

Freshman running back Derrek Cooper remained probable while sophomore offensive lineman Jackson Christian is questionable in his addition to the injury report. Cooper did not play against Florida last weekend — Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian said that he was not at 100 percent. Cooper previously suffered an ankle injury in the season opener that kept him out the following week against Ohio State.
