Toprak Razgatlioglu is out for the remainder of the 2026 MotoGP season due to a right shoulder injury.

This time last year, the racing world was alight with talk of how Toprak Razgatlioglu would do in his first MotoGP season at Pramac Yamaha. Now, with five rounds to go in the 2026 MotoGP season, he's in 21st position, and the only full-time MotoGP rider is Maverick Viñales, who missed a lot of this season due to injury.

Unfortunately for Razgatlioglu, he is likely to fall even further down the rankings now that Viñales is back from injury and can score points, as 'El Turco' is out for the remainder of the 2026 MotoGP season.

The three-time WorldSBK champion dislocated his right shoulder during a big crash in the second free practice of the Indonesian Grand Prix two weeks ago. Although the 30-year-old completed the sprint race, he retired during Sunday's race after just eight laps due to a lack of strength. After medical examinations in Milan, it was confirmed that the Turkish rider will undergo surgery on October 26th instead of waiting until the end of the season. This isn't surprising, given the fact that he could finish the remaining five rounds and not even end up in the top 20, all whilst putting his shoulder at far greater risk of more serious injury.

All Things MotoGP

Given the fact that this would've been Razgatlioglu's only chance to race at Philip Island on a MotoGP bike, he was extremely disappointed, saying, "I am extremely disappointed to miss the Australian Grand Prix. Phillip Island is one of my favorite circuits and a place where I experienced some very special moments during my Superbike career. I was really looking forward to the opportunity to compete there on a MotoGP bike, which makes this situation even harder to accept... Further medical examinations following the crash in Mandalika revealed that my shoulder injury is more serious than we initially thought. Therefore, I will undergo surgery in the coming days to give myself the best chance of a full recovery and a 100 percent return. This was not an easy decision, but after consulting with the doctors and those closest to me, we are convinced that this is the right step for my future."

Yamaha test rider Augusto Fernandez will replace Razgatlioglu in the final five rounds of the season, and 'El Turco' will finish his rookie season with a score of 18 points.
