Catoosa survived 5 turnovers to defeat Vinita in a pivotal District 3A-4 matchup, while Sequoyah delivered its most dominant performance of the season against Okmulgee and Claremore Christian also rallied from a 12-point deficit.
Elsewhere, Skiatook overwhelmed Oologah behind a 317-yard rushing performance from Jackson Fudge, while Inola, Chelsea and Foyil suffered lopsided defeats that complicated their postseason hopes.
Here is how the action unfolded.
CATOOSA 16, VINITA 13 — Five turnovers, including 2 inside the red zone, nearly cost Catoosa a critical district victory.
But behind a career night from quarterback Devin Johnson and several timely defensive stands, the Indians held off Vinita to keep their playoff hopes alive.
Johnson rushed for 246 yards and a touchdown on 30 carries while completing 9 of 15 passes for 83 yards and another score.
Catoosa [3-5, 2-3 District 3A-4] finished with 380 yards of offense, including 297 rushing, but committed 3 fumbles and 2 interceptions.
"Another close game that I personally feel shouldn't have been that close, but our kids played hard and kept fighting through adversity," Catoosa coach Sal Guerrero said. "We still found a way to win. That says a lot about the fight in our kids."
The Hornets struck first with a 61-yard touchdown run, but Johnson answered with a 16-yard score in the second quarter.
The Indians then survived a disastrous fumbled snap at their own 1-yard line when their defense forced and recovered a Vinita fumble three plays later.
Johnson later connected with Junior Brown for a touchdown just before halftime, giving Catoosa a 13-6 advantage. A fourth-quarter field goal from Brysen Jimenez extended the lead to 16-6, but the Hornets immediately answered with a 68-yard touchdown run.
The Indians' defense protected the three-point lead, and Johnson sealed the victory with a 20-yard run on fourth-and-4 as time expired after throwing an interception on the previous drive.
Matthew Compton led Catoosa with 3 receptions for 55 yards, while Brown caught 4 passes for 18 yards and a touchdown.
"Our defense played lights out after that [interception] and got us the ball back with about two minutes remaining," Guerrero said. "I'm proud of the way our kids kept responding, but we have to clean those things up."
The Indians travel to Eufaula [2-6, 2-3] this week in a matchup likely to determine the district's fourth playoff berth. The Ironheads defeated Daniel Webster 56-18.
Vinita fell to 3-5 overall and 1-4 in district play.

CCS will advance directly to the FCAA championship after Calvary [Joplin, Missouri] withdrew from postseason contention because of injuries, canceling this week's scheduled semifinal.
The Warriors will face Life Christian [5-3] at 5 p.m. Nov. 7 at Wright Christian in Tulsa. The Eagles defeated the Warriors 32-14 on Oct. 15.
SEQUOYAH 50, OKMULGEE 0 — Gunner Allison threw 4 touchdown passes, including 3 to Mason Weeks, as Sequoyah cruised past Okmulgee for its second consecutive victory.

The defeat leaves Inola facing a difficult path to the postseason. The Longhorns are not mathematically eliminated, but they need to defeat at least one of their final two opponents while receiving considerable help elsewhere in the district.
That challenge begins this week with a trip to Verdigris [7-1, 4-1], which suffered its first loss Friday, 37-28, against Perkins-Tryon, which Inola closes the regular season against Perkins-Tryon.
DEWAR 54, FOYIL 8 — Foyil's playoff hopes took another hit as defending Class B-I champion Dewar scored 46 first-quarter points and cruised to a victory in a game that ended at halftime.
