After finishing with a 5-4 record, the Bulldogs missed out on qualification for the MHSAA 8-Player Division 1 playoffs after the postseason pairings were announced by the MHSAA on Sunday evening, Oct. 25.
Heading into Week 9, the Bulldogs had a shot to reach the postseason for a seventh consecutive year, but they suffered a 54-6 home loss to undefeated Gaylord St. Mary in their regular season finale on Friday, Oct. 23.
While Inland Lakes won't be appearing in the playoffs, the Pickford Panthers (7-2) will make a fourth straight postseason appearance when they host Mio (6-3) in a 7 p.m. MHSAA 8-Player Division 1 regional semifinal on Friday, Oct. 30. The winner faces either Rudyard (7-2) or Ishpeming (7-2), who meet in a 7 p.m. semifinal in Rudyard on Friday, Oct. 30. The regional final will happen at a time, date and location to be determined.
Another significant playoff matchup will be Gaylord St. Mary (9-0) hosting St. Ignace (8-1) at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 30, in an 8-player D2 contest. That winner takes on the winner of Lake Linden-Hubbell (9-0) vs. Powers North Central (7-2), who battle on Friday, Oct. 30. That regional final is at a time, date and location to be determined.
