The official Ballon d’Or website published articles showing all three players had been named as the winner of the 2026 award. As you can guess, they were swiftly deleted.

The error has swiftly gone viral over social media and will be pretty embarrassing for France Football ahead of the ceremony tonight where the official winner will finally be revealed.

As is usual, Monday had seen the rankings from 30th to 11th released slowly over social media until only the top 10 remained. However, fans checking out the Ballon d’Or website then had a bit of a surprise as the articles could be seen claiming all three favorites for the Golden Ball had won.

Kane, Yamal and Mbappe will have to wait a few more hours to discover who really is the best player in the world. The trio are all in the final 10 along with Erling Haaland, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Lionel Messi, Michael Olise, Rodri, Ousmane Dembele and Fabian Ruiz.
