Russell Wilson thinks Garrett Wilson should request a trade to the Chiefs
· Yahoo Sports
New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson has been at the center of plenty of drama in recent weeks, as his frustration over a lack of targets has boiled over during a disappointing season. Now, one former NFL quarterback thinks he’d be better off somewhere else entirely.
Russell Wilson, who retired earlier this year to join CBS Sports as a studio analyst, singled out two contenders that he thinks would be ideal landing spots for the former Ohio State star, saying that Garrett Wilson should be looking at the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers ahead of the Nov. 10 trade deadline.

Wilson’s Frustrating Season
The Jets fell to 2-5 on Sunday after a 28-25 loss to the Miami Dolphins, who entered the game without a win. Garrett Wilson was held without a target in the first half and finished with just two catches for 26 yards on three targets.
Garrett Wilson’s frustration was visible on the sideline during the fourth quarter, when cameras caught him shouting with the Jets trailing.
Garrett Wilson signed a four-year, $130 million extension with the Jets in July 2025, and he remains under contract through the 2030 season. The Jets haven’t given any indication that they’re looking to move him, but that didn’t stop Russell Wilson from speculating.
‘Garrett Wilson Is That Guy’
During an appearance on CBS Sports’ Set Hut, Russell Wilson suggested that Garrett Wilson should seek a trade to a couple of Super Bowl contenders.
“If I’m Garrett Wilson, I’m going to the Kansas City Chiefs,” Russell Wilson said in a clip shared by NFL on CBS. “As you saw on Sunday Night Football, they were struggling to catch the football. You don’t see Patrick Mahomes getting frustrated too often. They need a big receiver, and Garrett Wilson is that guy.”
The Chiefs managed just three points in a 20-3 loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday Night Football, failing to reach the red zone once.
Russell Wilson also floated a second option for the Jets receiver.
“The 49ers have a chance, and if I’m Garrett Wilson, I’m checking out the 49ers,” he continued. “Kyle Shanahan should make the call. Mike Evans can make plays down in the red zone, but to find a player who can run every route for you, that’s Garrett Wilson.”
We’ll have to see whether or not one of those trades materializes.
