Chiefs TE reassures his brother after a missed opportunity
Jason Kelce finished his 13-season NFL career with a Super Bowl victory, but he never defeated two opponents: the Seattle Seahawks and Cincinnati Bengals. He recorded a tie against the Bengals but never secured a win against either team during his time with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Jason believes a mistake he made during that game contributed to the Eagles defeat.
“Bengals are the ones. Never beat Cincinnati. Best we ever did was tied them. … Gross. But yeah, tied Cincinnati and never beat Seattle. Had a chance in my last year, and honestly, I’m the reason we lost, because I frigging moved the ball a little bit forward on a quarterback sneak, and they called a false start. It was that game. If we would’ve scored that drive, it would have ended it pretty much,” Jason said.
His younger brother, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, responded with a message of reassurance: “Don’t Be So Hard on Yourself.” Travis offered those words as Jason discussed the penalty and blamed himself for the outcome. The brothers then broke into laughter during their conversation.
The game Jason recalled took place on December 18, 2023, when the Eagles lost 20–17 to the Seahawks. During a crucial drive near the goal line, Jason was called for a false start after moving the ball slightly forward while preparing for a quarterback sneak. The penalty pushed the Eagles back five yards.
Jason said he believed a touchdown on that drive could have nearly put the game away. The Eagles did not score on the possession, and the Seahawks later secured a 20-17 victory.
Jason addressed the penalty after the game, acknowledging that he had previously been warned about the issue.
“They’ve been warning me of that for years. I had a tendency to do that in the past so they’ve definitely warned me before. I’ve got to be smarter, especially in that situation,” he added.
The Bengals were the other team Jason never defeated during his NFL career. On September 27, 2020, Philadelphia and Cincinnati played to a 23–23 tie at Lincoln Financial Field. The Eagles scored a late touchdown to force overtime, but neither team managed to secure a victory. The tie remained Jason’s best result against the Bengals.
Despite a career that included a Super Bowl title and 13 seasons with Philadelphia, Jason said his record against Seattle and Cincinnati remained a disappointment.
Travis has continued playing for the Kansas City Chiefs during the 2026 NFL season, with the Chiefs remaining a Super Bowl contender. Through six games, he has recorded 24 receptions for 343 receiving yards and two touchdowns. His season included a 101-yard, one-touchdown performance against Indianapolis, along with productive outings against the Broncos, Dolphins and Seahawks.
The conversation ended with Travis offering reassurance after Jason reflected on the penalty he believed contributed to the Eagles loss to Seahawks.
