As their season is not going well, a further situation has compounded their troubles further. Noel was injured in the last game, and a grave update regarding his season has been shared.
Jaylin Noel to miss rest of the season
Noel is expected to miss the remainder of the 2026 NFL season after suffering a turf toe injury that requires surgery. The second-year player, selected in the third round of the 2025 draft out of Iowa State, sustained the injury during a kick return in the fourth quarter of the team’s overtime loss to the Giants. He fell awkwardly while being tackled with under nine minutes remaining and did not return to the game. He was later observed wearing a walking boot. The Texans later placed Noel on injured reserve on October 28, 2026.
Tennessee Titans cornerback Micah Robinson (21) pushes Houston Texans wide receiver Jaylin Noel (13) out of bounds during the first quarter at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tenn., Sunday, Oct. 11, 2026.An ESPN source confirmed the season-ending outlook. According to Jonathan M. Alexander of the Houston Chronicle, further evaluation determined the damage was significant enough to require surgery, with no expectation of a return this season. Although IR designation requires a minimum four-game absence, making Noel eligible to return as early as Week 13 due to Houston’s Week 8 bye, the severity of the injury makes that impossible. It is still unclear what the true extent of the injury is, and what the timeline of his recovery will be like.
Noel also seemingly confirmed that he will not be available for the rest of the season. He shared a picture of himself on his Instagram story, along with a caption that said, “Imma come back better…believe that.” Neither the player nor the franchise have directly confirmed the situation yet.
So far this season, the wide receiver led the Texans with 331 receiving yards on 19 catches and two touchdowns, averaging 17.4 yards per reception. He had played in all seven of the games. He also served as the team’s primary punt and kickoff returner.
The injury leaves Houston’s wide receiver group to rely on Nico Collins, recent trade acquisition Marvin Harrison Jr., Tank Dell, and Kayshon Boutte. Nevertheless, the Texans will lament the loss of the highly energetic and explosive player. The Texans will have to move on, while Jaylin Noel works on his recovery.
