Lane Kiffin has pointed to the one big change to the highly-anticipated LSU-Alabama clash, suggesting that the SEC’s issue with the college might be playing into it.

LSU has gotten into quite the dispute this year against the SEC after the Tigers tried to bring former NFL players Dae’Quan Wright and Zxavian Harris onto their roster. The conference was against letting former professionals back into college sports. A legal battle has since been ongoing between the two entities.

In any case, this has led to a fair bit of tension between the prestigious football program and the conference. And according to head coach Lane Kiffin, it’s definitely something which has been affecting how things have been going for the Tigers. He mentioned it again after a recent issue.

Lane Kiffin insinuates LSU is hosting Alabama for a daytime game because many in the SEC ‘aren’t rooting for’ Tigers this year

The Tigers are set to host the Alabama Crimson Tide on Saturday, November 7th. The game is set to kick off at 12:30 p.m. CST, making it the first time since 2010 that it has been hosted during the day instead of at night.

Tiger Stadium is known for its incredible atmosphere at night, especially for this particular rivalry game. So when speaking about the scheduling issue, Kiffin was honest about what he thinks before making a plea to the fans.

“It’s interesting that all of a sudden this year, for the first time ever since 2010, or first time since 2010, Alabama’s coming to LSU and not playing at night,” Kiffin said. “So you know, there’s a lot of people around here upset about it and complaining and stuff, and I said, ‘Well, you know, don’t think we got a lot of people around the SEC really rooting for LSU this year after what’s transpired.'”

“So I don’t think we’re gonna get a lot of favors with that. So it is what it is. I challenge our fans with this. You know, hey, obviously they put the game earlier, you know, because they think that that’s an advantage to Alabama and not LSU that we can’t be as loud and can’t have the intense environment. So how about proving them wrong and having the same intense environment four hours earlier?”

Both the Tigers and the Crimson Tide have matching 6-2 records to start the season. Neither has been perfect and both will want to get the statement win from this clash. Considering the magnitude of the rivalry, surely LSU fans will find a way to make the atmosphere as difficult as possible nonetheless.
