Isaiah Stewart was ready to fight Pelicans after Grizzlies’ first loss
· Yahoo Sports
The New Orleans Pelicans handed the Memphis Grizzlies their first loss of the season on Monday night. The Pelicans beat the Grizzlies 135-134 with Zion Williamson putting up 25 points and 11 rebounds in the overtime win. Ty Jerome, who had his second 40-point game of the season, missing a shot in the final seconds.
Isaiah Stewart was also on the floor for the final play. He did not appreciate the way that the Pelicans celebrated. Especially Derik Queen and Trendon Watford. Queen had scored 20 off the bench in the win and was pumping his arms towards the Grizzlies. Stewart took exception and Watford got involved. Watford had to be held back while he could be seen laughing.

All of these actions seem ill-advised considering Stewart’s past. One person suggested that Queen might have been chanting “whoop that trick,” which was the Grizzlies’ rally cry during Stewart’s second year with the Pistons. Queen would have been in high school at the time. Honestly, it’s a great reference, but no one involved with that iteration of the Grizzlies is on this team. And yet it was very effective in angering Stewart.

Luckily, coaches and teammates kept everyone separated. Cameron Boozer was among those trying to hold Stewart back and as he was ushered back to the locker room, the star rookie did not look impressed with the veteran.
These two teams will meet again in less than two weeks in New Orleans.
