The Florida Panthers are still navigating injuries on their team this season, and Brad Marchand is one of the players who’s currently dealing with something. The forward has been out since Oct. 6 after getting injured against the Los Angeles Kings. At the time, the Panthers said that he’d be out for six weeks, but it looks like he’ll be back sometime in December.

“I can’t say it’s this month, but probably within five weeks, six weeks,’’ Marchand said via George Richards of NHL.com. “I’ve never been so happy to be out for this amount of time.”

For Marchand, that’s good news, as he thought it was going to be longer until he was able to return to the ice.

“The injury could have been so much worse,” Marchand said. “I’ve never hurt my knee before; I didn’t know what to think when I went down. I thought it could be a career-ending type of thing, a season-ending thing.”

The even better news is that Marchand has been skating for about a week, and it sounds like he’s making progress.

“When I found out it would be a couple of months or whatever, I was pretty happy that was the case,” Marchand said. “It has been getting better and stronger every day. We’re working through it.’’

Aleksander Barkov is another player who’s been sidelined, as he suffered a left knee injury during the Panthers’ 4-3 overtime loss against the San Jose Sharks on Oct. 1. There’s no timeline for his return, but it looks like he and Marchand are both working hard to get back into the lineup for the Panthers.
