Western Railway has taken a significant step towards pensioner welfare by successfully implementing Digital Life Certificate (DLC) Campaign 5.0. As per the guidelines issued by the Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW) and the Railway Board, pensioners aged 80 years and above were eligible to submit their Life Certificates from 1st October 2026, while other pensioners can submit their certificates during November 2026.

According to a press release issued by Chief Public Relations Officer, Western Railway, Vineet Abhishek, WR undertook a special doorstep Digital Life Certificate initiative, during the last week of October 2026. Demonstrating strong commitment towards pensioner welfare, Western Railway facilitated doorstep submission of Digital Life Certificates and organised special camps, successfully facilitating more than 100 Digital Life Certificates for pensioners aged 80 years and above.

An important contribution came from various Pensioners’ Associations and organisations, which actively supported the initiative by providing contact details and residential addresses of eligible pensioners and coordinating appointments for doorstep visits and camps. Following this, Pension Section staff personally visited the residences of senior pensioners and facilitated successful generation of their Digital Life Certificates.

Recognising the difficulties faced by very senior pensioners, particularly those who are bedridden or unable to travel due to age-related limitations, Western Railway successfully met the challenge of organising this campaign through the collective efforts of Pension Section staff, Pensioners’ Associations and other concerned units.
