He lifts the lid, and appears startled as he quickly backs away, frantically pointing to officers as a man climbs out of the bin.

The man can be seen peaking out of the trash can, then jumping out and running.

An officer is then seen chasing after the man as they both disappear out of the camera’s view.

The dashcam footage has since gone viral online, garnering more than 1.4 million views on Facebook alone.

Police said the man had fled on foot after a traffic stop earlier in the day. Officers briefly lost sight of him and were searching for him in the area.

“As luck would have it, ‘Oscar the Grouch’ — as we’ve nicknamed our suspect — appeared at just the right place and the right time,” police said in the Facebook post .

“Thanks to the impressive athletic ability and swift response of our very own Officer Perez, the suspect was safely apprehended.”

Police said the suspect, who was identified as Jonathan McMillan, had an outstanding warrant from Miami County and was arrested on that warrant as well as on charges of obstructing official business and resisting arrest.

He was taken into custody without injury.
