In a vote that ended Feb. 27, Cincinnati.com readers selected the 2025-2026 Cincinnati Enquirer/Beacon Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine Athletes of the Week from high school sports action through Feb. 22.

Here are this week's winners.
Ohio big-school boys basketball team:Kings – Kings ended the regular season with two wins last week, beating Miamisburg and Turpin.
Ohio small-school boys basketball team:Waynesville – Waynesville still hasn’t lost in 2026, riding an 18-game win streak into the postseason following wins against Monroe, Oakwood and Edgewood.
Northern Kentucky/Indiana boys basketball team:Newport Central Catholic – NewCath closed the week with wins over Ludlow and Bishop Brossart.
Ohio big-school girls basketball team:Mercy McAuley – Mercy McAuley won its first game of the postseason on Saturday, beating Roger Bacon 41-25.
Ohio small-school girls basketball team:Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy – CHCA are winners of seven straight after taking out Batavia, 52-40.
Northern Kentucky/Indiana girls basketball team:Boone County – The Lady Rebels ended the regular season with wins over Augusta, Williamstown and Dayton. They have won double-digit games in a season for the first time since 2020-2021.
Boys winter team: West Clermont bowling – The Wolves won the Division I sectional at Rollhouse with a 4,106.
Girls winter team:Oak Hills wrestling – The Highlanders won the first Greater Miami Conference title, scoring 175 team points at the meet.
Ohio big-school boys basketball:Elijah Jones, Hamilton – He had 20 points, seven assists and six rebounds in a 72-56 win over Fairfield.
Ohio small-school boys basketball:Conner Enderle, Fenwick – The sophomore scored 30 points, more than 25 over his average, in a win over Colerain. He also has a 4.3 GPA.
Northern Kentucky/Indiana boys basketball:Max Rubemeyer, Dixie Heights – He scored his 1,000th career point against Bluegrass United in his final home game, scoring a career-high 33 points.
Ohio big-school girls basketball:L.J. Ducolon, Mount Notre Dame – The freshman had a career-high 11 points to go with six rebounds in a win over the Cincinnati Trailblazers.
Ohio small-school girls basketball:Sienna Doyle, CHCA – The sophomore had 20 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals in a postseason win over Batavia.
Northern Kentucky/Indiana girls basketball:Kendall Thompson, Newport Central Catholic – The junior scored 24 points and pulled down three rebounds in a win over Walton-Verona.
Ohio boys big-school bowling: Ty Barrett, West Clermont – He tied for first in the Rollhouse sectional with a 667 series (248-189-230) to qualify for the district tournament and help his team win the team championship.
Ohio boys small-school bowling:Dillon Wagner, Fayetteville-Perry – He shot a 653 (171-243-239) to finish ninth in the district tournament.
Ohio girls big-school bowling:Chloe Sears, West Clermont – She finished third in the Rollhouse sectional with a 561 to help the Wolves qualify for the district tournament.
Ohio girls small-school bowling:Haley Hinkle, Clinton-Massie – She shot a 569 (179-168-222) to finish seventh in the district tournament and qualify for state.
Northern Kentucky boys archer: Robert Scroggin, Cooper – He shot a 284 to win the boys division of the Northern Kentucky Athletic Conference tournament and help the Jaguars win the team title.
Northern Kentuckygirls archer: Bella Bowen, Boone County – She shot a 285 to finish second in the girls division of the NKAC tournament.
Gymnast: Caroline Pritts, Turpin – She took fifth all-around at the City Championship meet with a third-place floor routine, helping the team secure first place overall.
Ohio boys swimming/diving: James Hossler, Hamilton – He qualified for the Division I state meet by winning the 100-yard breaststroke district title in 56.84 seconds.
Northern Kentucky/Indianaboys swimming/diving:Chase Knopf, Ryle – The senior won the 200-yard freestyle state championship in 1:37.76 and the 500-yard freestyle state championship in 4:24.97 to become the first Raider swimmer since 2007 to win an individual state title.
Ohio girls swimming/diving:Marissa Zang, Mount Notre Dame – She won the Division I district diving championship with a score of 432.2 points.
Northern Kentucky/Indianagirls swimming/diving:Clare Herfel, Notre Dame – The sophomore won her second straight 500-yard freestyle state title with a time of 4:51.44.
Ohio boys wrestling:Kaiden Patton, Kings – Patton had two pins, including one in 50 seconds in the 215-pound finals of the Easter Cincinnati Conference tournament.
Northern Kentucky/Indiana boys wrestling: Deacon Heisler, Campbell County – Heisler is the regional champion at 144 pounds, going 3-0 including a pin in the opening round.
Ohio girls wrestling:Eleanor Polking, Oak Hills – Polking was the Greater Miami Conference’s Wrestler of the Year as the freshman won the 130-pound class with three pins.

The Enquirer will no longer mail certificates to schools after getting feedback that families weren't receiving them. Alex Harrison will make digital copies of all certificates available to families by 8 a.m. the Monday after the Friday win. Families will access the PDFs through this public Dropbox link.
