· Yahoo Sports
The numbers will correctly show the Huskers blitzed the South Dakota State Jackrabbits with a 7-run assault in the bottom of the 4th inning which blew a 1-0 lead to 8-0 and they never looked back.

But let’s table that a moment and talk about the bottom of the 3rd. The weird, wild 3rd inning.
Lauren Camenzind stepped up to the plate and was promptly donked in the helmet. Unhurt, she headed down to 1st. With one out, Kacie Hoffman shot a grounder to the 2nd basemen who clipped Lauren with the tag. Or did she? Coach Rhonda Revelle wandered out for a chat and the umps gathered.
They then decided there was no tag reversing the call. Predictably, Jacks Coach Kristina McSweeney wanted a word with the 2nd base ump. After a few moments, she headed back to the dugout apparently satisfied with the explanation and it was time for the wild pitches.
Yep, you heard that right. An Emmerson Cope 2-0 pitch squirted away to the right of the catcher and Hannah Cam took a chance and headed home. The decision proved to be a bad one as she was thrown out easily. Then ball four to Cope got away and Jesse did make it in plenty of time for a 1-0 lead and thus ended the hijinx.
But, oh yes, the bottom of the 4th.
That started with two quick outs but then Jordy Frahm, who had been flummoxed by Hailey Herman’s change-up, striking out and popping up in her first two tries, finally solved the algorithm on an 0-2 pitch sending it deep and well over the left field wall. A few batters later, Ava Kuszak ripped a 2-run double into the left field corner. Emmerson Cope flared a 2-run single into short left center. And Hannah Coor concluded the 2-out rally with a home run the other way which ended the Huskers scoring as well as the game for all intents and purposes.
Hannah Camenzind pitched 4 more strong innings giving up only 2 hits and 1 run in securing her 4th win of the season. The lone run broke her scoreless inning streak at 13 1/3 innings, but she also went 1-for-2 at the plate while walking and scoring a run. I also finally got around to writing up her awards haul this week.
The hits were spread around – Lauren Camenzind went 3-for-4. The law firm of Kuszak, Cope and Coor drove in 2 runs each in the 4th inning avalanche. Jordy went 2-for-5 with the big inning’s other big shot.
And the Huskers got an anxiety-free win against a scrappy bunch of Jackrabbits who took them to extra innings twice last season. The Huskers take the field again shortly against the host Tulsa Golden Hurricane. This will be streamed on ESPN+, but don’t forget to enjoy the dulcet tones of Nate Rohr on the Husker Radio Network available at huskers.com.
