Handful Of Michigan State Spartans football players sign UDFA Contracts

The end of the 7th round is not the end of the scramble for players for the 32 NFL franchises. As soon as Mr. Irrelevant is picked at #257, another round of recruiting begins as general managers pick up the phones to invite hundreds of undrafted players to sign free agent contracts, basically offering them a tryout for a pro team.

This year, after two Spartans were drafted – C Matt Gulbin and P Ryan Eckley – we have reports from across the internet of five more Spartans earning UDFA contracts. Those players are:

  • Omari Kelly, WR – Chicago Bears
  • Malik Spencer, DB – Washingon Commanders
  • Elijah Tau-Tolliver, RB – Baltimore Ravens
  • Jack Velling, TE – Atlanta Falcons
