In some ways it feels like a reset of sorts. When Notre Dame played Clemson earlier this season, the Tigers came in ranked — and then the Irish swept the three game series. Notre Dame then found itself ranked in the top 25 — but then lost their next 5 ACC series with 3 of those series being sweeps. So, now it’s time to get back some of the magic they had earlier in the season, and work it one game at a time.
Notre Dame is currently ranked #71 in the NCAA Baseball RPI. It’s safe to say that two wins on the ACC Tournament probably won’t help them get into the NCAA Tournament. Three wins — and it’s quite possible. First the Irish need to take care of business against Clemson, and then they will have to take down the #7 seed Virginia Tech Hokies (a team the Irish didn’t face during the regular season). The third game, however, will be a well-rested double bye North Carolina Tar Heels team that is currently ranked #4 in the RPI.
