NASCAR fans hoping to catch a glimpse of the Cup Series rolling into Music City were forced to wait as wetness descended onto the track.

The Cracker Barrel 400, initially slated to kick off at 7:25 p.m. ET, was delayed due to rain. While early forecasts appeared to suggest that the race would be left unscathed due to inclement weather, those who pooled into Nashville Superspeedway's concourses were holed in as a tempest opened up atop of the famous racing colisseum.

Here's the latest on the weather in Nashville and its impact on tonight's Cup Series race.

8:40 p.m.: Scans appear to have cleared up for the most part. There's a chance of light rain in the next 30 minutes. But that shouldn't cause too many issues.

8:30 p.m.: Engines, indeed, have been fired, with Will Compton and Taylor Lewan delivering the instructions. Looks like we'll be underway shortly here from Nashville.

8:05 p.m.: NASCAR is planning on calling for the start engines command at 8:25 p.m. ET

7:45 p.m.: Jet dryers are on the track in Nashville. It's unclear just how long they'll have to work to dry the track, although Fox Sports' Bob Pockrass theorized that it would take between 45-90 minutes to dry the course.

7:30 p.m.: ...Or maybe not. NASCAR announced that the start of tonight's race is delayed due to rain. No new start time has been listed yet.

7:15 p.m.: NASCAR plans on firing engine to kick off tonight's race at 7:25 p.m. ET. Rain is in the forecast, although it seems that the rain will subside shortly
