Lumberjacks' season comes to an end in Elk River

Jun. 2—ELK RIVER — The Bemidji High School baseball team's season came to an end in Elk River on Tuesday.

In the Section 8-4A tournament, the Jacks couldn't score a run against pitcher Tommy Olson in a 4-0 loss to the Elks. After losing to Moorhead in the opening round, the Jacks were bumped to the loser-goes-home elimination bracket. After winning against Brainerd last week, the loss to Elk River ends their season.

Bemidji hitters could only get three hits off of Olson, as well as drawing two walks. The Elk River pitcher struck out seven BHS batters in the shutout performance.

Wyatt Tverstol was on the mound for Bemidji. He gave up five hits, four runs and three walks while striking out five in five and 2/3 innings.

The Elks led 2-0 after two innings thanks to RBI singles from Lincoln Trushenski in the first and Bennet Masey in the second. Masey would hit a two-run home run in the sixth to give the Elks a 4-0 cushion into the final inning.
