News broke on Saturday evening that Michigan State athletic director J Batt has emerged as the leading target for the same position at Kentucky. In the report from Pete Thamel of ESPN, he stated that no deal has been finalized but it does certainly sound like this is going to happen and Michigan State is going to again be looking for a new athletic director.
Batt was hired away from Georgia Tech around this time last year and officially started as the new Michigan State athletic director in early June. So should he leave for the Wildcats, he will have been with the Spartans for just one year. He did, however, make some notable changes in his potential lone year with the Spartans, including the firing of Jonathan Smith and hiring of Pat Fitzgerald as the head football coach.
With the news out there that Batt could be leaving, fans and media members that follow Michigan State took to social media to share their thoughts on the potential departure. Let's check out some of the best reactions below:

Unpopular take: If J Batt wants to leave, wish him good luck and let him leave.

Guys like Tom Izzo look for reasons to stay at Michigan State even during difficult times.
Other guys look for reasons to leave. That’s fine.
Get me guys who want to be at Michigan State.…
Sure. What else could we possibly lose at this point??? https://t.co/tAvr7v97Sx

A brutal blow to the Michigan State Spartans. Already lost their President Kevin Guskiewicz to Clemson and now J Batt to Kentucky.

Both leaving because of the Board of Trustees incompetence. Michigan State will never change until the BOT changes. https://t.co/uAd25RKZ9W
Well, this is an ominous sign for Michigan State athletics https://t.co/OtgPXZpdbU

Nothing will prepare us for the day Izzo retires and the university starts impacting the basketball program. Enjoy it while you can

Michigan State deserves leaders who will fight for us, not against us. We also deserve loyalty from those chosen to become Spartans
