When a single scheduled series in Washington, D.C., after winning the 2025 World Series, came and went without a visit to the White house to celebrate the victory, it seemed as if the team could skip the tradition, particularly as local fans urged a boycott in the wake of some controversial policies championed by President Donald Trump.
But now it appears the defending champions have found an unexpected opening and will keep up the tradition despite the political controversy.
“The Dodgers couldn’t fit a White House visit into their series against Washington because of the game schedule, and with no other trips to the nation’s capital this season, it appeared they would miss the tradition,” Edward Lewis noted for the New York Post. “But with an off day between series in Philadelphia (July 20–22) and New York (July 24–26), they found a window that worked for a visit with Trump.”

President Donald Trump Sends Los Angeles Dodgers Message After White House Visit Update
By reshuffling plans around an off day later this month, the Dodgers will now make the trip to the White House after all, extending a tradition that has often generated headlines both on and off the field.
The decision also prompted a message from President Donald Trump's administration ahead of the visit.
“President Trump is excited to welcome the Los Angeles Dodgers BACK to the White House to celebrate their World Series championship!” White House spokeswoman Taylor Rogers said in a statement, per Edwards.
That adjustment allows the Dodgers to uphold a championship tradition that has existed across multiple presidential administrations. World Series winners have routinely been invited to the White House and the Dodgers have celebrated their recent championships with Trump as well as Democratic party presidents.

Los Angeles Dodgers’ Trump White House Visit Drew Mixed Reactions
The Dodgers' last White House celebration attracted national attention beyond baseball as Los Angeles and California based fans pointed out that some of Trump’s policies are harmful to local residents.
“While their 2025 visit was met with backlash, the club cited baseball tradition,” Fabian Ardaya reported for The Athletic. “All members of the 2024 title-winning team who were part of the traveling party were in attendance. That included Mookie Betts, who skipped the White House visit when Trump was in office for the Boston Red Sox’s 2019 celebration, and Kiké Hernández, who called for Trump to ‘show some humanity’ in 2017.”
The upcoming ceremony marks another chapter in that ongoing tradition while highlighting the logistical challenge the Dodgers faced this season. What initially appeared to be an impossible scheduling situation ultimately produced enough flexibility for the club to make the trip, ensuring another World Series championship will be recognized at the White House before the team resumes its pursuit of another postseason run.
