Moore (groin) was selected by the Lionsin the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft, added to the roster to compete for reps across from Aidan Hutchinson. He had been enjoying a strong start to training camp, including a would-be sack while competing against Detroit's second-team offense in an 11-on-11 period Friday.
"Ever since we drafted and acquired Derrick Moore, since the day he showed up, he just has the presence of an older guy," Lions defensive coordinator Kelvin Sheppard said before Sunday's practice. "Just being around him, he doesn't feel like a rookie. … He's very mature. He's kind of introverted, but once you get to know him, he's just a man's man, and he just comes to work every day with his head down. 'Coach, what do you need of me? What are you expecting of me? What is the standard?' And he goes out and tries to meet that."
Kitselman, an undrafted free agent from Tennessee, left to be checked for a leg injury.
Other Lions injury updates
▶ DL Alim McNeill (neck): McNeill was back at practice and looked to be full go, two days after he left early from Friday's session because of a neck injury. McNeill explained Sunday that he was inadvertently kicked in the head by a teammate, and the Lions wanted to evaluate him.
▶ DB Christian Izien (sick): As Lions coach Dan Campbell said was the plan Friday, Izien returned to practice Sunday after getting over the flu. Izien is expected to play a number of roles in Detroit's secondary, including safety and nickelback.
