During a new TMZ interview, the singer and reality television personality confirmed that he intends to keep fighting after his May loss to internet personality Supa Hot Fire.
Ray J said he does not remember the knockout that ended the bout. He nevertheless described this period of his life as his “final reckless moments” before he adopts a quieter and more responsible approach.
Ray J did not say how many additional bouts he hopes to complete or establish a long-term career plan.
Ray J Says He Still Has More Fights Left

Ray J discussed his future during an appearance on The TMZ Podcast, explaining that the knockout and subsequent hospitalization were not enough to make him retire from celebrity combat sports.
He said he still has personal goals he wants to complete before moving into what he described as a calmer phase of his life. “These are my final reckless moments,” Ray J said.
He compared the period to finishing the remaining items on a bucket list before becoming a quieter and wiser version of himself. Although he acknowledged that every chapter eventually ends, he made clear that he does not believe his fighting chapter is over yet.
His MMA Debut Ended With a Second-Round Knockout

Ray J faced Supa Hot Fire, whose real name is DeWayne Stevenson, at Brand Risk 14 in Las Vegas on May 23. The amateur MMA bout marked Ray J’s first competition under mixed martial arts rules. Ray J controlled much of the unusual opening round as Stevenson repeatedly moved away and offered little offense.
The fight changed quickly in the second round. Stevenson landed a combination that sent Ray J into the ropes and down to the canvas less than 30 seconds into the round, according to MMA Fighting.
Ray J was able to stand after the knockout but appeared disoriented and sat on a stool before the referee ended the fight. He later said that he had no memory of the punch that knocked him unconscious.
Ray J Spent Four Nights in the Hospital
Ray J checked himself into a Las Vegas hospital several hours after the fight. TMZ reported that doctors evaluated him for a possible concussion and examined concerns about his heart beating more slowly than expected.
He remained hospitalized for four nights before being discharged. Ray J later said he was feeling better, although he did not publicly disclose a detailed diagnosis from the hospital stay.
TMZ subsequently reported that Ray J had undergone a physical examination and received medical clearance before participating in the Supa Hot Fire bout.
The Knockout Produced Questions About the Event
Immediately after the loss, Ray J made comments suggesting that he believed he and Stevenson had entered the bout with some form of plan. “I thought we had a plan,” he said while expressing frustration about the result and money he believed had been lost.
Brand Risk Promotions later announced an internal investigation into whether there had been a “prearranged plan” connected to the fight. Ray J denied intentionally losing or participating in a fixed result.
He argued that he would never have agreed to absorb a punch powerful enough to leave him unconscious and require a hospital stay. No publicly reported finding has established that the fight was rigged or that its outcome had been predetermined.
He Is Scheduled to Box Orlando Brown in Atlanta
Ray J is scheduled to face former Disney Channel actor Orlando Brown in a celebrity boxing match on August 15 at State Farm Arena in Atlanta. The matchup is expected to appear on the undercard of Claressa Shields’ fight against Kaye Scott. Unlike Ray J’s bout with Supa Hot Fire, the Brown matchup is scheduled to use boxing rules rather than mixed martial arts rules.
Promotion for the fight has already become confrontational. During an Atlanta press conference, Brown struck Ray J in the face with a stack of cash as the two exchanged insults and security watched from the stage.
