However, the FIFA President has already scrapped the idea after receiving backlash from many countries and governing bodies.

As pressure mounts over his future, Infantino is set to hold talks with the Donald Trump administration this week.

Gianni Infantino is seeking help from the Donald Trump administration

Ben Jacobs has reported that Gianni Infantino is seeking Donald Trump’s “support” to ease pressure on his presidency.

“Gianni Infantino is set to hold a meeting with senior figures in the Trump administration as he seeks support to continue at FIFA,” Jacobs wrote.

“Infantino has already been calling federations for public support as pressure grows for him to resign.”

Infantino and Trump have a close relationship following their work on the 2026 World Cup in the United States.

Receiving support from the United States president would certainly strengthen Infantino’s case to continue in his role.

However, the Welsh and English FAs have already withdrawn support for Infantino, with many nations expected to follow suit.
