Bayern Munich celebrates in style after downing BVB in Franz Beckenbauer Supercup

As many had hoped, Bayern Munich started the 2026/27 campaign by defeating Borussia Dortmund 2-1 at Signal Iduna Park to lift the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup.

The reigning Bundesliga champions made their quality count in the first half. Nathaniel Brown opened the scoring in the 28th minute on his competitive debut, while Michael Olise doubled the advantage just before halftime after capitalizing on a Dortmund mistake.

Dortmund came out with much more urgency after the break and Fabio Silva pulled one back in the 75th minute, setting up a nervy finish. Bayern Munich, however, managed the closing stages well enough to protect their lead and secure the trophy.

There were also impressive contributions from Bayern Munich’s newcomers, with Brown making an immediate impact and Ismaël Saibari making his competitive debut.
