A top-of-the-table clash at prime time in the Red Bull Arena! Our lads have already shown remarkable early-season form in recent weeks, and tomorrow at 20:30 CEST they face what is probably their toughest test yet on the domestic stage: hosting the undefeated SK Rapid in the rescheduled ADMIRAL Bundesliga Matchday 4 encounter. Jakob Semler will referee the showdown.
The Vienna club suffered a major setback on the European stage with their dramatic UEFA Conference League exit against Hearts six days ago, but are performing better domestically than they have in years. The Green and Whites have won their first four league matches, a feat they last achieved in the 2015/16 season. The 14 goals scored by summer signing Tonni Adamsen and his team-mates represent a historic high for Rapid at this early stage of the season.

Just as well that our lads look ready with two convincing home wins in just a few days – because we need to break a losing streak. Rapid have taken all three points in their last three head-to-head encounters with 1-0 wins, including one in March at the Red Bull Arena. Before that, we were unbeaten at home against the club from the capital in 19 consecutive matches. Rapid coach Johannes Hoff Thorup is therefore flawless against us after three games, but that has not been the case when he faces Danny Röhl – formerly of Sheffield Wednesday – most recently on the sidelines at Norwich City. In the English Championship, both matches were won by our coach.
First a 3-0 win against Mjällby, then a 4-1 win against Austria Vienna – now we're aiming for our third home win in a week, or our fifth in as many games in the 2026/27 season! Rapid haven't won every league match so far for nothing - there are good reasons why they're at the top of the table. In any case, I expect a very intense clash with plenty of challenges. We won at the weekend, and so did Rapid. So everyone will be going into tomorrow with a lot of confidence, and I think this match will be exciting even for a neutral observer.
