Awful Announcing's MLB radio rankings are out. Where do Tigers sit?

DETROIT — Fans are calling it like they see it — or, in this case, like they hear it.
Awful Announcing's annual rankings of Major League Baseball's radio broadcasts were unveiled earlier this week, and the Tigers' booth is in the middle of the pack.

The Tigers' radio booth, led by Dan Dickeron and also including backup play-by-play man Greg Gania and analysts Bobby Scales, Dan Petry and Co., checked in 13th out of 30 MLB teams.
That's down from 2025, when the Tigers' booth was ranked eighth by Awful Announcing, which covers sports media.
Dickerson, 67, the Tigers' lead radio play-by-play man since 2003, received mostly high marks, though fans did express some frustration with losing him to the TV booth so often. Dickerson regularly shifts to TV when Jason Benetti is fulfilling his array of national assignments.
Awful Announcing asked fans to grade broadcast teams from A to F, and it said it received more than 10,000 grades, plus comments. The most common grade given to the Tigers' booth was a C (39.3% of the votes). More than 80% of fans who graded the Tigers' booth gave it an A, B or C.
According to Awful Announcing writer Sean Keeley, Dickerson's shift to TV "disrupts his radio rhythm," leading to occasional "stat overload," according to at least one reader's comment.
"Still, the consensus holds that Dickerson is an absolute gem who keeps Tigers radio in good hands," Keeley wrote.
“These guys are knowledgeable and yet describe the action in a very approachable way,” one fan wrote. “I never feel like I need to strain past some weird flaw or gimmick to listen to them. They make listening to Tigers games easier.”
The San Diego Padres' radio broadcast team, featuring Jesse Agler, Tony Gwynn Jr., Sam Levitt and Bob Scanlan, checked in at No. 1 in Awful Announcing's rankings for 2026.
In Awful Announcing's TV rankings, the Tigers came in at No. 7 for 2026.
