Wolves keeper Sa signs new contract

Wolves goalkeeper Jose Sa has signed a new two-year contract extension which will keep him at the West Midlands club until the summer of 2028.

The 33-year-old Portugal international was widely expected to leave this summer following Wolves' relegation from the Premier League.
Following his late return from this summer's World Cup, when his country were beaten in the last 16 by eventual champions Spain, Portugal's reserve keeper was again only on the bench behind Daniel Bentley for Wolves' first two games of the campaign.
But Wolves accepted a bid from promoted Coventry City to sign Bentley, Sa stepped up - and, with Wanderers allowing Sam Johnstone to move to Celtic on transfer deadline day, Sa is now firmly number one at Molineux again.
"We knew we would be revamping the goalkeeping department and we really like how it's ended up," Wolves technical director Matt Jackson told the club website.
"It's given Dan an opportunity to leave and Sam desperately needed to play and has gone to a massive football club.
"Now we've got three really good, professional goalkeepers (Joao Virginia and John Ruddy) and to a proven standard which we can build around this season.
"Jose has proved his level during his time at the club. He is a big character in our dressing room."
Braga-born Sa, signed from Greek side Olympiakos in 2021, was in the final year of his previous deal.
But he has now added a further two years to stay and help Wolves' bid to get back into the Premier League at the first attempt under new boss Cesar Peixoto.
He has kept 41 clean sheets in his 174 Wolves appearances.
