The Mets can now grab a series win in the finale at 1:35 p.m. on Sunday at Yankee Stadium.

The Mets enter the day with a 68-78 record, while the Yankees are 85-63 and trail the Rays by four games for the top spot in the AL East.

The Mets are being careful with Christian Scott, who is in his first full season back from Tommy John surgery, down the stretch in the 2026 season.

The right-hander is making his second start of September. He allowed two earned runs on four hits with seven strikeouts in 4⅔ innings against the Giants in his most recent start.

Scott is 4-4 with a 3.81 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 120 strikeouts in 99⅓ innings across 21 starts.

The Mets offense will be challenged as they face AL Cy Young frontrunner Cam Schlittler, who is 13-6 with a 2.02 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 220 strikeouts in 178⅔ innings.
