Jets RB Breece Hall leaves game vs. Lions early with thigh injury after awkward tackle

The New York Jets lost running back Breece Hall early on Sunday afternoon.
Hall left their matchup with the Detroit Lions early in the fourth quarter after he was brought down awkwardly near the goal line at Ford Field.

Hall was running to the outside when he was tackled by Lions linebacker Trevor Nowaske just shy of the end zone. He seemed in obvious pain almost instantly, and reached for his thigh as he rolled over out of bounds.
He remained down for quite some time, and then went into the medical tent. The Jets quickly ruled him out with a thigh injury. Further specifics are not yet known.

Hall had 32 yards on 13 carries when he went down, and had another 23 receiving yards on three catches on the day. The former Iowa State star is up to 163 rushing yards with one touchdown this season, his fifth in the league.
Hall ran for more than 1,000 yards for the first time in his career last season. He was set to play the 2026 campaign under the franchise tag, but the Jets finally reached a three-year extension with him in May.
The Jets entered Sunday’s contest at 1-1 on the year. They opened the season with a 23-10 win over the Tennessee Titans, but fell last week to the Green Bay Packers in their home opener.
It is still very early, but Hall’s absence will make undoubtedly things much more difficult for the Jets offense should he be sidelined for any significant amount of time.
