· Yahoo Sports
The Chicago Sky offseason is underway, and general manager Jeff Pagliocca announced that head coach Tyler Marsh will return for his third season.
Chicago was eliminated from playoff contention on Aug. 23, and the team will enter the offseason with a chance to continue building its roster, along with experience from an injury-riddled season.

On Oct. 1, Pagliocca announced that Marsh would return as coach for the 2027 season, per Underdog WNBA, despite rumors circulating this season about him being on the hot seat.
Injuries Complicated Chicago's Second Season Under Marsh
Chicago missed the playoffs again for the third consecutive season. However, the team experienced an injury-riddled season. The Sky started strong with a 3-1 record, and then guard Rickea Jackson went down with a torn ACL.
Later in the season, guard Skylar Diggins missed time with an injury and was benched. She missed the rest of the season but plans on returning to the Sky next season.
Sky Enter Offseason With Major Roster Decisions
As the organization enters the offseason, it has four free agents it needs to try to re-sign, including guard DiJonai Carrington (unrestricted), guard Natasha Cloud (unrestricted), Rachel Banham (unrestricted), and guard Sydney Taylor (reserved).
Carrington missed a majority of the season and only played 11 games, but she impacted the team with her intensity, effort, and defense. Taylor elevated her play and role on the roster, and she could be a building block for the franchise.
Signing Carrington will be a priority because of her 3-and-D capabilities and how she reenergized the team with her return. However, she may not want to remain with the franchise with the market expanding.
Cloud and Banham could be options to re-sign with Jackson's recovery and rehab taking place. Center Kamilla Cardoso will be under contract and has become a threat in the post.
Tyler Marsh Gets Another Chance to Lead the Sky
Despite the outcome of the season, second-year head coach Tyler Marsh improved on his first season at the helm. Last season, the team finished with a 10-34 record and finished sixth in the Eastern Conference.
Although the team did not make the playoffs, it finished 16-28. However, the Sky never got a chance to play fully healthy. Chicago has star talent in Taylor, Cardoso, and Jackson.
As of now, Marsh has coached 88 games as the head coach and has a 26-62 overall record. While his first season didn't go as planned, the team is starting to follow his lead. After the franchise traded forward Angel Reese, the team's morale trajectory did change.
