Arsenal resume their Premier League campaign after a three-week international break by hosting Leeds United at the Emirates. When we last saw our heroes in red, they were beaten 3-0 by Brighton in a contest that was closer than the scoreline indicated, in my opinion. Either way, it was a surprising result that the side will be eager to seal into the past with a bounceback showing, albeit after a long layoff.

Leeds are among the more surprising sides of the young Premier League season. They’re unbeaten — 2W, 3D — and have something like the 5th-best record in the league stretching back into last spring. Daniel Farke’s side will be eager to give a better accounting of themselves than they did last season against Arsenal, when they lost 5-0 at the Emirates and 4-0 at Elland Road.

Arsenal look to have dodged the worst of the injury worries. Ezri Konsa (muscle issue), Declan Rice (various), and Kai Havertz (hamstring), all of whom were not certain to be available, are starting. Martin Ødegaard, who suffered a nasty, intentional kick by Bernardo Silva (but played for Norway afterwards) is good to go as well. Mikel Arteta declared Max Dowman (minor contact injury) good to go in his press conference. Ben White, Piero Hincapie, and Jurrien Timber are all back on the bench after injury layoffs. Cristhian Mosquera is back in training but not in the matchday squad. Christos Tzolis will be out for a couple weeks with the hamstring problem he suffered on duty for Greece. William Saliba is targeting a November return from his long-term back issue.

Leeds will be without Daniel James and Joe Rodon. Harry Wilson, who missed time for Wales with a quad injury, is fit enough for the bench. Youngster Jean Matteo-Bahoya, who has only played 90 seconds for the club since joining this summer, makes the bench after missing time over the break for the French U21s with an ankle issue.
