Kentucky football force-feeds LSU its own fake quote after Wildcats' OT win

No. 25 Kentucky football didn't just beat No. 10 LSU 35-34 in overtime on Saturday, Oct. 10. The Wildcats reveled in it.

Coach Will Stein got arguably the biggest win of his early tenure in Lexington, Kentucky, knocking off Lane Kiffin's Tigers in front of a raucous crowd at Kroger Field. The win saw his team improve to 5-1 and 3-1 in SEC play, which the home crowd rewarded with a massive storming of the field (and some, ahem, impolite gestures directed at the LSU coach).

That wasn't the final shot Kentucky would get in at LSU's expense.

Following the game, the Wildcats' official account on X (formerly Twitter) took aim at a fake quote attributed to quarterback Kenny Minchey, in which he says, "LSU's defense hasn't seen anyone like us and our offensive line yet."

Needless to say, the quote – ostensibly used to motivate LSU ahead of the game – went viral ahead of the Week 6 matchup, with Stein himself addressing it during the week. Kentucky didn't let it go, either, shoving it back in LSU's face following the win:

While Minchey didn't throw for any touchdowns or interceptions in the game, he was still productive against the Tigers, completing 23 of 36 passes for 246 yards and rushing for a touchdown. As a team, Kentucky rushed 32 times for 155 yards and three scores, headlined by running back CJ Baxter's 19 carries for 123 yards and two touchdowns.

LSU managed just one sack on Minchey in the game. And, in a final act of retribution, it was Minchey himself who sealed the game with a called quarterback keeper on Kentucky's 2-point conversion:

In that way, LSU's fake quote was more prophetic than inspiring.
