Steelers Reportedly Have Interest in Young WR Who Could Fit More Than One Timeline

The Pittsburgh Steelers came away with a Week 7 win over the New Orleans Saints, and as we've talked about before, getting the job done in the NFL week after week is among the hardest things in professional sports. While nobody was impressed with what the Steelers did on either side of the football, it was still a win.
The defense did what it had to do, but ultimately, we're not talking about an elite New Orleans offense.

Offensively, the Steelers were very below average. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers wasn't terrible by any means, throwing for 212 yards and one touchdown. Jaylen Warren was also great on the ground again, with 18 carries for 101 yards.
However, the Steelers still weren't great in the red zone, and again, it felt like the offense just needed one more target to make a play. DK Metcalf had only two receptions, Pat Freiermuth also had only two for 20 yards, and overall, the receiving corps didn't look great.
As for how the Steelers can improve that, the latest reports suggest that they're at least somewhat interested in Brian Thomas Jr. Thomas, who has been with the Jacksonville Jaguars, figures to be a trade candidate in a couple of weeks.
"Brian Thomas Jr., immensely talented, but I've talked to several teams who believe he could be dealt over the next few weeks. Jacksonville has relented in the past. They've kept him because he's such a big talent. They hoped that his deep threat would balance things out with other receivers.
“The last two weeks, no catches, had just 15 snaps, so he was essentially benched in that London game against Houston. So, something has to give. There's going to be some interested parties. Kansas City's been looking around at potentially adding a receiver. Pittsburgh to some extent,” Jeremy Fowler of ESPN said, H/T BR.
Trading for Thomas carries risk for the Steelers, even if I think it's a good idea to try.
The problem is that if Pittsburgh expects him to come in and be a WR1 for this organization, that's unlikely to happen.
That said, it doesn't mean the Steelers shouldn't be interested in trading for him. Even if things don't work out this year, it's safe to say he's the type of player who can improve in this offense and help whoever the future quarterback is.
Realistically, it's also fair to say that Thomas has a ton of talent, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him figure some things out in this league.
