DETROIT — Detroit Lions linebacker and captain Jack Campbell was carted off on a backboard with 14:48 remaining in a game against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, Nov. 1, at Ford Field.
Campbell made a routine tackle on Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson and immediately fell face down on the ground with his arms to his side.

After rolling over, he remained motionless for several minutes as several members of the medical staff evaluated him on the field. They placed him on a backboard as players from both teams took a knee around him.
Rookie linebacker Jimmy Rolder also sustained an injury on the same play. Rolder appeared to slip while blitzing off the edge and pounded the ground while face down, where he remained for a handful of minutes before eventually walking off with help from the medical staff.
Rolder, a fourth-round pick in April, was playing the best game of his young career. He had a team-high five tackles at the time of his injury, including a sack and a tackle-for-loss.
Campbell is one of the heartbeats of Detroit's defense and was rewarded for his first All-Pro season in 2025 with a four-year, $81 million contract this past offseason.
The Lions had already lost several players for the game at the time of Campbell's injury. Center Cade Mays (ankle), edge defender DJ Wonnum (concussion), defensive back Brian Branch (concussion), and running back Jacob Saylors (neck) were all ruled out of the game.
