Saudi Arabian club open to signing veteran forward dreaming of Barcelona move

Joao Felix’s spell on loan at Barcelona was a lukewarm one. While the player did not disappoint, he was also not particularly impressive to the extent that the club pushed for a permanent move.

He currently plays for Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League and is doing decently in the Middle-East-based nation. His heart, however, is set on a move back to the European elite where he can enjoy more of the spotlight.

Al-Nassr are looking to activate a unilateral contract extension clause in the player’s deal, but Jorge Mendes and Felix are actively looking to block it and keep the door open for offers from Europe.

Of all the clubs in Europe, Barcelona has Felix’s heart and he hopes to relive his sweet memories from Catalonia.

As reported by SPORT in a recent update, other Saudi Pro League clubs are looking to keep the player within their circuit. As he looks for a departure from Al-Nassr, Al-Hilal is now emerging as a possible destination.

The idea of their interest, in fact, was furthered by Al-Hilal’s former executive director Tarek Al-Tuwaijri who recently spoke on Felix’s situation at Al-Nassr.

“I hope, first of all, that Felix does not leave the League,” he began.

“If Al-Hilal can sign him, it would be good, and the same can be said of Al-Ittihad and Al-Ahli,” he added.

Needless to say, there is a collaborative effort from the Saudi to keep the player in their bounds at any cost, adding a new hurdle in his dream of returning to Barcelona.

An unlikely return

While Felix does indeed see Barcelona as his dream club once again, there is no reported interest from the club’s side at this point in time.

As matters stand, the rumours have not evolved into any real contacts and the economics of the deal continue to be a major hurdle even in its potential materialisation.

Felix’s future appears set to become one of the biggest transfer sagas of the upcoming transfer windows, and Barcelona will find themselves continually linked with the player.

Given how the attack finally looks stable with decent depth, however, the scope for the club returning to sign Felix is slim.
