Report: New York Giants aggressively pursuing Jonathan Taylor

The New York Giants are among the more aggressive teams in pursuit of Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor as the Nov. 10 trade deadline nears, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday.

“Jonathan Taylor would make a lot of sense there,” Rapoport said. “They are among the more aggressive teams there.”

Taylor, a 27-year-old three-time Pro Bowl selection signed through 2028, would give New York a dynamic lead back in his prime. The fit aligns with head coach John Harbaugh’s long-standing preference for a physical runner who can both run around defenders and run them over.

While Taylor is not Derrick Henry, he would elevate an already competitive offense for a Giants team that has opened the season with one of its better starts of the past decade.

The local connection adds further appeal. A New Jersey high school standout, Taylor would be playing just a few miles from MetLife Stadium if a deal is completed.

The Giants’ interest in Taylor comes as they continue looking for interior defensive line help. New York had previously shown interest in Washington Commanders defensive tackle Daron Payne before he suffered a season-ending foot injury in practice that ended any potential intra-division trade. With that option gone, the Giants remain active in the market for a top-tier defensive tackle after dealing Dexter Lawrence earlier this year.

New York is expected to stay aggressive in both the running back and defensive tackle markets over the final days before the deadline, though it remains unclear whether any significant deal will ultimately materialize.
