It assessed states and Union territories on renewable energy capacity growth, policy and regulatory frameworks, grid readiness, the performance of power distribution companies and the investment climate.

The ministry said Maharashtra’s initiatives had contributed to India’s clean energy transition and to the national target of reaching 500 GW of installed power generation capacity from non-fossil sources by 2030. Ministry secretary Santosh Sarangi said Maharashtra’s experience and successful initiatives could offer lessons for other states and Union territories.
