With the D2 playoffs bracket announcement just over a week away, each team is looking to finish strong after losing just one game apiece up to this point in the season.
Valdosta State (6-1) is fortunate to be in that position after a stunning comeback last week at West Alabama. Down 24-0 at halftime, the generally run-first Blazers (248.7 rushing yards per game) changed things up a bit and stormed back behind quarterback Champ Harris for a 28-24 victory. The former Army QB finished with 304 passing yards and two touchdowns, plus 75 more and another TD on the ground.
NGU (8-1) had an easier time of it on Halloween with a 45-10 home blowout of Erskine, leaving a narrow loss to Chowan a month ago as the lone blemish on the Trailblazers' record. Their offense also runs through a dual-threat QB in Kam Montgomery, the team's leading rusher with 57 yards per game and nine TDs on the ground, along with 1,654 and 12 more scores through the air.
It's the eighth all-time meeting between the schools, with Valdosta State prevailing in every matchup so far. Who will come out on top in this D2 showdown? Here's all you need to know to tune in.
