Alabama Supreme Court refuses to grant Charles Bediako emergency injunction to rejoin Alabama basketball team

Charles Bediako may be out of legal options in his attempt to play again for Alabama this season.
The Alabama Supreme Court denied Bediako’s emergency request for an interim injunction to play as soon as Saturday’s game against Tennessee. Bediako is currently ineligible to play for Alabama after Judge Daniel Pruet ruled that Bediako’s G League contract prohibited him from playing college basketball.

Bediako has appealed the decision. Friday’s decision was for an injunction to be deemed eligible while he waited for the appeal to be held. An initial request for an injunction was denied earlier in the week by Pruet.
The request for the emergency injunction was made because Bediako’s lawyers said that his appeal would not be complete until the conclusion of the NCAA tournament, meaning that Bediako could not rejoin the team before the end of the 2025-26 season.
Bediako rejoined the Crimson Tide in January after he was granted a temporary restraining order to play college basketball after the NCAA had denied his request for a waiver. He appeared in five games before he was ruled ineligible again.
Bediako was in the G League for over two seasons after playing at Alabama for two seasons. He appeared in all 37 of the Crimson Tide’s games during the 2022-23 season as he averaged over 20 minutes per game and had 6.4 points and 6.0 rebounds a contest.
In five games in 2026, Bediako averaged 10 points and 4.6 rebounds. No. 17 Alabama (21-7) has three regular-season games left ahead of the SEC tournament and the NCAA tournament.
