2027 Summer Scouting Report: Boo Carter, CB, Colorado

· Yahoo Sports

The 2027 summer scouting series floats along, pun intended, as next up on the docket is Colorado defensive back Boo Carter. After two seasons in the SEC playing for the Tennessee Volunteers, Carter takes his talents out west to play for Coach Prime and the Buffaloes.

Should Carter be a name to keep an eye on this season? Let's talk about it.

  • Height: 5'11"
  • Weight: 200 lbs
  • Recruiting rank: Four-star recruit, no. 5 rank athlete nationally
  • Hometown: Cleveland, Tennessee
  • Games watched: UAB, Georgia, Arkansas

Boo Carter is a tick undersized for safety, but you wouldn't think it by his playstyle. He plays with violent intent, always looking to be around the football. Carter earned SEC All-Freshman honors with 25 tackles and three forced fumbles in eight games played. He roams the box well with a good IQ to plug gaps in the run game. When backpedaling to play deep, he flips his hips smoothly to get to where he needs to be.

It needs to be mentioned that the reason Carter is no longer with the Vols is due to being dismissed due to a multitude of behavioral issues. Yes, guys have moved around due to off-the-field concerns, turned it around, and become fine players. But time will ultimately tell if that is the case with Carter. Not totally sure he has the best frame for the NFL at safety, so he could play a tweener role should he be drafted in 2027.
